Berlin, Germany Is Still Divided ... By Lightbulbs?

Chris Hadfield, a Canadian astronaut, tweeted the image to the right while in space.

It's Berlin, Germany at night.

Fun fact: I'm of German descent.

Re: My last name (Hartinger) and genetics (large nose).

Sad fact: German was divided for decades by the Berlin Wall.

I couldn't find any information about the difference of lightbulbs of East and West Germany, as depicted in the picture, but

Wolly Mammoth Found With Liquid Blood

10,000 years ago, a little bit after Adam and Eve, wolly mammoths roamed the earth.

On May 22, researchers from the Northeast Federal University in Yakutsk found a preserved female in Lyakhovsky Islands, which is off the coast of Russia.

She had been buried in ice for 10,000 years.

In a statement on the university's website, Semyon Grigoriev, the head of the expedition and of the

Eric Garcetti Wins Los Angeles Mayor's Race

On Wednesday, Democrat Eric Garcetti won the race to become the 42nd mayor of Los Angeles. He is the first Jewish mayor in the history of the city.

Did you really think a Republican would win?

He defeated City Controller Wendy Greuel. If elected, she would have been the first female mayor of Los Angeles.

Fun fact: While I was living in LA, I was supposed to interview Greuel for The

Peace Corps To Allow Same-Sex Couples To Serve Together

On Tuesday, Peace Corps announced that it would be accepting applications from same-sex domestic partners who want to volunteer together overseas.

7 percent of Peace Corps assignments are filled by married volunteers; heterosexual married couples have been serving together since it was founded in 1961.

Carrie Hessler-Radelet, the Deputy Director of Peace Corps, is happy about the change.

The Murder Near Stonewall Inn

Painting by VH McKenzie

Last Thursday, I grabbed drinks with a coworker in the West Village.

As we walked from our office near Madison Square Garden through Chelsea, the city turned from tourists to yuppies to predominately gay men in a matter of blocks. That's the thing I love about New York City; it changes in a minute.

After drinks, I was a little buzzed and craving chicken fingers,

Diversity Prom: June 7, 2013 In Buffalo, NY

If 90's teen comedies have taught us anything, prom usually marks the end of the movie. Oh, and your high school experience.

Sadly, many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students often opt out of attending prom with their significant other, while some schools in the US actually ban sex-sex couples from attending.

For the first time ever, the Gay & Lesbian Youth Services of Western New

MTA's $1 MetroCard Fee Is Bringing In The Big Bucks, Baby

DAVID HANDSCHUH/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

The New York City transit system has gone green!

Well, sorta.

Earlier this year, the MTA started to charge $1 every time an individual bought a new metro card.

I think it's a good idea, but I think it's getting old when a business, organization or government wants to save / make more money and they throw "green" on it.

Just say that you don't want

Minnesota 12th State To Pass Marriage Equality

On Monday, the Minnesota state senate voted 37-30 to approve same-sex marriage.

It will become the 12th state to allow marriage between those of the same sex.

Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to sign the bill on Tuesday, which was passed by the House last week.

It will go into effect on August 1st -- the same day same-sex couples in Rhode Island are allowed to get married.

Internet Week New York: May 20th to May 27th

I heard a rumor that the Internet is used for more than porn.

But, it might just be a rumor.

Starting on May 20th, New York City will be hosting Internet Week 2013.

The festival was launched in 2008 in cooperation with the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

If you're from out of town and are coming just for this event, you most likely won't be stopped - and - frisked unless you are

Back To My Old Stomping Ground: Los Angeles

In May 2011, I was a broke, unpaid magazine intern with no friends living in Los Angeles.

Sounds like the life, right?

Well, actually, for once I'm not being sarcastic; it was pretty rad.

I interned a few days a week at The Advocate, went to the beach on my days off and spent my nights catering or exploring the city.

Eventually, I made a few friends and some money and connections.

Binary Queer Shirt By Mushpa y Mensa

A few weeks ago, I met Cara & Emilia - the ladies behind Mushpa y Mensa - and I was pretty impressed with their designs; a majority that payed homage to the LGBT community.

Homage, also known as, homoage.

One of my favorite shirts was the "Binary Queer" shirt, at right.

"Printed with eco-friendly ink on Alternative Apparel, 100% organic cotton, unisex crew shirts. Binary Queer. Each row is
